Like most of you, we’ve had Zoom calls going on every day in our house. And it can be hard getting that balance right between getting super dressed up to meet someone face to face… and trying to look like we’re not actually in pajamas while we take calls on the laptop.
Truth is, just because you’re going digital doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish and comfortable. (Even if you really are in PJs from the waist down… cause let’s be real no one is gonna know!
So here are a few tips for stylish Virtual Meeting outfits:
DO WEAR FUN PATTERNS OR A BRIGHT COLOR!
But remember your background. If you have a lot going on behind you a patterned shirt can add to the clutter. In that case, a solid top is best. When you speak, you want people to listen to what you have to say… not get distracted by the pile of online shopping behind you.
DON’T WEAR A STRAPLESS OR ONE-SHOULDERED TOP!
No one wants to get on a Zoom call and realize it looks like they turned up naked. And with these styles, it’s so easy for the wrong camera angle to leave you looking exposed. I always recommend that you only expose one major area of your body when putting together an outfit in real life. So if only part of you is visible in a virtual call, let’s put some clothes on it!
What should you do instead?
DO WEAR A V-NECK AND ADD JEWELRY!
DO TRY OUT A FUN SLEEVE!
Puffy or flared sleeves are on-trend and turn a simple white top into a statement piece without overwhelming your look.
DO THROW ON A CARDIGAN OR JACKET OVER A CAMISOLE OR TSHIRT.
Layers can save you from exposing too much while making it look like you’ve put more effort into your outfit for a polished look that’s comfortable and chic.
DON’T FORGET TO ADD THE FINISHING TOUCHES!
A necklace, a headband, a touch of makeup... whatever will complete your look and add some interest since you can’t show off with your shoes.
The most important thing is to wear something that makes you feel confident on camera and ready to work, hang out with friends, talk to family, network, take a class, or whatever else you do on screen these days!
